The special garden what I will write is called the Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Classical Chinese Garden. This is the first of its kind outside of china and it represents an age. It is tradition of Ming dynasty (1368-1644). The garden has its private spaces within the scholar’s residence. It looks very beautiful and it makes us surprise because of its asymmetrical arrangement of rocks and plants, winding paths and corridors, and amazing vistas. It shows us natural rhythm of garden. Because of advantages and beauty of the garden, it was used as the scholar’s house for friends and family of all ages that this garden was very energetic for many times. This garden is located in 578 Carrall Street, Vancouver, BC. On the website, we can know how to go there and this place is not so far from the downtown.
I have learned a lot on the website of Chinese garden. There is an introduction of element in Chinese gardens on the website. Dr. Sun Yat-Sen’s garden is mainly based on rock, water, plants and the architecture and these four elements combine together that looks very beautiful. Also, we can learn about the history of this fantastic garden. It helps people understand many differences and similarities between Chinese and Western cultures and traditions. It was built in 1985-1986 by using
the techniques and principles of Ming dynasty. Moreover, there is information of Chinese “guo fu,” which means the father of modern china, Dr. Sun Yat-Sen. He was born in Guangdong province and educated in Hawaii that had western thought at an early age. He was the first president of china and leaded the revolution 1911 successfully. Also, there are many pictures of gardens that helped me understand the garden better.

I had no knowledge about Chinese gardens and landscape Architecture before I began to write this. But now, I learned a lot of information about landscape architecture. I really was surprised at this garden’s asymmetrical arrangement of rocks and plants etc. If I have a chance, I want to visit the Chinese gardens of many kinds of dynasty because I am in china now and study more about my country’s garden (Korean gardens) and other foreign countries’ gardens.
